I was working on this piece as COVID's impact was being felt with people losing their jobs and being housebound. Personally, I had to cancel my classes and workshops and was "job hunting" in the sense that I had to shift to another way to make my bread and butter income. I began producing and selling lots of Wallies, which saved the day. The piece grew out of a collage on paper, on which I combined a piece by Claire Cuneen, part of a painting by Philip Guston, and a heavily embroidered piece of fabric. To me, the colorful motifs of her jacket are about creativity — the isolation of the pandemic left lots of room for that.
